Keeping The Learning Going At Home With Makedo
30If you're navigating online learning because of temporary school closures or choosing to homeschool, we're here to support your home learning journey! Makedo is an awesome STEAM learning resource for children of all ages.
Getting started with Makedo is simple! Watch our ‘How To’ tutorials here where you’ll learn how to cut safely, fold expertly and connect easily. Then find some cardboard, grab your Makedo tools and start constructing. For ideas to inspire, check out our HUB, Instagram and Twitter. Here you’ll see the endless possibilities; kids who’ve made a dragon costume, a robot, designed games with moving parts, created a scene from their favourite story or made a marble run in their backyard!
If you’d like more guidance, explore our Make and Play tiles on our HUB to walk you through some Makedo favourites; a dog, a plane, a playhouse and so many more to come.
Makedo construction naturally incorporates creative thinking skills and sets up problem solving opportunities. You’ll have a ball together with a Makedo project and meet learning objectives at the same time. For example, children can write on their plans or label their construction. They can use patterns, counting, division and fractions. And don’t forget STEAM. You can incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics into the process of a single Makedo project.
To help bring out the inner inventor in your child, try guiding them with some basic design principles. Support them to define their vision, imagine and brainstorm together, and then make it, test it, modify it and share with others!
